Is it good to use shower gel?

Yes, shower gel is a great way to cleanse your body. It removes sweat and bacteria while leaving behind a refreshing scent. It's moisturizing and rich in skin-softening ingredients like glycerin and shea butter that help to keep your body feeling hydrated.

      Benefits

      • Better body cleansing
      • Help prevent rashes and acne breakouts
      • Soften rough skin due to winter weather or harsh soaps
      • Remove sweat from workout sessions quickly without drying out skin
      • Increase absorption of moisturizers, keeping your body hydrated all day long
      • No need for an exfoliation routine as most gels have this built-in function
      • You smell and feel fantastic after using our invigorating gels in the shower!

      How to use shower gel

Here are a few tips for getting the best results:

      • Wet your body and then apply the Body & Earth shower gel. A little goes a long way, so start with a small amount and add more if needed.
      • Massage the gel onto your body to help loosen dirt and oil. Be sure to pay special attention to your neck, shoulders, and chest, as these are often areas where dirt and oil accumulate.
      • Rinse the gel off with warm water. You may need to scrub a bit to remove all the dirt and oil.
      • Finish up with a cool rinse to close pores and leave your skin feeling refreshed.

What is the difference between liquid soap and shower gel?

Shower gels are typically more concentrated and moisturizing than liquid soaps. Liquid soaps can be used as a body wash too - just use less of them for this purpose.

If you want a gentle cleanser that isn't too drying, try unscented liquid soaps (which come in many varieties). These work great for sensitive skin and don't irritate eczema sufferers either!

      The first liquid soap

The first liquid cleanser was invented by a pharmacist named William Thomas in 1834. It wasn't until the next decade that other chemists began experimenting with making soaps from oils and fats, rather than just animal tallow or vegetable waxes. Eventually, they developed an easily-spreadable cleanser made from olive oil for use on both hands and face.

In 1855, two French chemists patented their version of this newfangled product - which they called "soap" - but it took another 20 years for the product to catch on in America.

Which is better, liquid soaps or shower gels?

There are a few differences, but they are both liquid cleansers.

      Ingredients

Shower gel needs sulfates to create enough lather and cleanser ingredients to clean your body or hair. It is also popular with people who allergic to sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) in their regular shampoos.

Liquid soaps don't contain any solid components like SLS, so you need a surfactant like Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacet for creating thick bubbles.

Shower gels, liquid soaps, body wash, or shower cream contain many different types of ingredients. These include surfactants, emollients, humectants, preservatives, and fragrances.

The main ingredient in these products is the surfactants responsible for providing the bubbles. Surfactants also help to clean dirt and oil from the body.

Some common surfactants found in liquid soaps include sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), Cocamidopropyl betaine (Cocamidoproate, CAPB), and ammonium laureth sulfate (ALES).

The main ingredients in shower gels are similar to liquid soaps, but they do not have oils and emollients normally found in gentle liquid or cream-type cleansers.

      Consistency

A shower gel is thicker with lower viscosity than liquid soaps. Because it's thicker, it usually has a higher ratio of cleansing agents than liquid soaps.

      Usage

Shower gels are loaded with moisturizing ingredients to ensure your skin feels soft and smooth after you rinse off the cleanser, unlike soaps which can make your skin feel dry due to their tight pore-clogging nature.

      Effective pH

Both types can be effective at 5 (neutral) or even less (acidic). Shower gel is better because it contains additives that adjust the product to higher pH levels.

      Skin tolerance

People who don't tolerate SLS well may find shower gel more tolerable than soaps since most brands contain very low amounts of this ingredient.

      Packaging

Shower gel is normally packaged in a bottle, whereas liquid soaps are packed in a flexible plastic pouch or tube.

Shower gel for different skin types

      Dry skin or sensitive skin

The best shower gel for skin that is dry is an alcohol-free, fragrance-free gel that creates a rich lather. Fragrance-free gels for showers are excellent choices because they don't create as many bubbles but they will leave you feeling squeaky clean unless you are extremely dirty!

The worst choice for dry skin is one with a lot of moisturizing agents or artificial fragrance ingredients in it because these can cause more dehydration and irritation. Alcohols are also not good because they strip away the outer layer of your epidermis, which causes wrinkles later on in life! So go easy on moisturizing if you have dry/sensitive/acne-prone skin.

      Normal skin

The best type of bath/shower gel is one that is made for normal skin types. It should have a decent lather and should be able to take care of your daily showering needs without drying your body out.

      Oily skin

The best type of shower gel is one designed for oily skin. They contain ingredients that help clean the dirt and oil without leaving the skin's surface excessively dry after showering.

      Combination skin

If you have combination skin, choose a shower gel or body wash with a formula designed to deal with dry and oily patches.
